The Brief

West Midlands in Europe is one of the most widely representative regional partnerships for European affairs with a presence in Brussels, with over 90 members from the public, private and voluntary sectors in the West Midlands. Jointly managed by Advantage West Midlands (AWM) and West Midlands Local Government Association (WMLGA), we were asked to design their offices and conference facilities. The brief was about maximizing functionality within the available space, and the incorporation of furniture and furnishings designed and produced in the West Midlands. Our client called for the redesign of the space, as the WME offices were downsizing from two floors to one. The space would be used to showcase products from the region and also to provide information to businesses interested in export and import within Europe.

Our Solution

The space needed to be intelligently designed to account for the flow of visiting delegates, breakout reception area, flexible conference facilities and the office space for employees. The spacious reception area was redesigned to act as a display area for West Midlands products and events, by using illuminated glass cabinets and modular literature stands. The concept of light boxes attached to the office desks created a great visual feature as well as an advertising opportunity for visitors to the office. (General photographs of Brussels.
