The Brief

Trust Inns and Modern British taverns commissioned us to design The Ring O' Bells, their flagship establishment in Christleton, a small village in the suburbs of Chester. The pub had gained a reputation as gloomy and run down, and was in need of refurbishment to brighten up the space.

Our Solution

A complete redesign to both the interior and exterior which focused on enhancing the existing period details, whilst introducing a contrasting vibrant colour palette. The exterior of the pub was turned into a multipurpose garden space, suitable for use as an alfresco dining terrace, a decked ‘sun trap’, and a family lawn with picnic tables and a children’s play area. This was designed to maximise visit duration for all ages and family groups, by providing entertainment and a welcoming venue where groups and families could enjoy visiting Chester’s ‘Best Kept Village’, four years running.
