What did we find at 100% Design? Date: 23/09/2011

100% design head - spencer swinden

As a creative workforce that love to know what is happening in the design world, The Spencer Swinden team headed down to London for the opening day of the 100% Design trade show with eager anticipation. After a long journey discussing what we were hoping to see, we finally arrived at Earls Court 2. Design shows are a great source of inspiration for us and we were on the lookout for new products and materials that would inspire us and that we could use on future projects.

We were fascinated with KOZO lamp who specialise in re using old industrial materials such as pipes with elbow connections and faucet light switches to create beautiful handmade lights. We love the playful quality of the design and the nod to sustainability and recycling. We want one for our office!

Another great find were these innovative panels by Lumaglass . They can be used as a substitute to traditional ceiling panels or room dividers like those designed by “U2”. Great for a bar, office or hotel. The image below shows them in-situ at Saltisford Station….a real eye-catching design feature.

We were amazed with all the beautiful pieces at the show. The furniture designs on diplay blew us away with their high standards and excellent craftmanship. In particular, Lichterloh impressed us with their vintage up-cycled gym equipment and the enormous rhino and walrus chairs by Maximo Riera were just surreal!

Ta-Rae lighting was fantastic! Beautiful pendant lights made from spools of thread! Very Quirky!

We left the show with heads full of creative ideas and now, we can’t wait to use them in our next projects. We would definitely recommend the show to everyone who wants to be inspired and surrounded by beautiful things.
