We saw huge potential, added vibrant retro quirks and enhanced the space and service, which has attracted new customers and trebled turnover.

To make the Plough more social we opened up the space at the back and improved the quality and feel of the experience, so that customers feel relaxed and want to stay.

The Need

The Plough was originally an old community boozer that just wasn’t appealing enough to the local demographic, and wasn’t fulfilling its potential. We were brought in to increase footfall and turnover and give customers a reason to want to spend time there.

The Insight

To turn The Plough around we needed to make it cool, and to make it cool we had to attract the local young professional market. That meant The Plough needed an overhaul and a character change that would appeal to them and entice other customers too.

We knew business could be grown exponentially, but for this to happen we knew we also had to create more space inside the venue, and train staff in order to create a customer experience that surpassed expectations.

The Journey

The Solution

We put character back into the pub. We used retro quirks in every corner, rather than traditional pub details. This meant The Plough took on a lodge feel with a relaxing ambience that gives the customer something interesting to look at wherever they sit.

We repositioned The Plough to appeal to young professionals, which would then attract other local demographics. We had to make it cool, but not a clique. It had to appeal to everyone.

We created more space by building an extension in the garden area, which allowed it to remain a beer garden during the summer, but also be used for extra trade and more covers during the winter, to generate revenue all year round.

Thanks to this work, and a lot of care and attention to all aspects of the business and customer experience over the last six years, we have turned The Plough into an award-winning pub, the hub of Harborne and a place that attracts roaring trade and happy customers every single day of the year.

Retro Character

The building had previously been stripped back to a minimal design and we knew that for the time and the local demographic, some real character was needed. So we created retro quirks and details that give real soul and warmth.

New extension

We saw great potential for the space at the back of the building. It was used as a beer garden in the summer, but was wasted space in the winter, so we converted it to suit all seasons and create more space to eat and drink and be merry.

Better service

We helped to train the staff to be the very best they could be, to give a customer experience that would match the interior and make The Plough an awesome brand. We created a new menu and included gourmet coffee, which alone now generates huge extra turnover each week.

Incredible results

We don’t just do interior design; we work as business consultants. We elevated the owner’s belief of what was possible, and by carefully working on every aspect of the business, we managed to treble turnover.

We turned The Plough into the most popular
pub in Harborne, and the most profitable.

The proof is in the pudding (/pizza)

We believe in our work. We think you should take a look for yourself and feel the difference that our soulful design brings.

If you can’t visit, then you can call Adam, the owner. We’ve worked with him for years. He loves our work. If we don’t convince you, then he will.
